This painting comes from a wild afternoon at Smiths Beach when the swell was pushing water through channels in the sand. The cool violet blues in the water sat beautifully against the warm apricot light on the headland and beach. I pushed the colour slightly to match what I remembered rather than what the camera recorded, because the real scene felt far richer. |
